Masterfully done! Watercolor paint is a hard medium to work with and you did a fantastic job on this. Keep it up.

OMG GIANT CHERRY!!! I am crap at Backgrounds. I just did this colored pencil piece that had a cave like background and I was really nervous about coloring it. Its like every time I color a BG it fails. I am happy about it though.
[link] I am unsure about painting backgrounds. I mean once you mark with watercolor you can't get that same value of white back on the paper. Its gone. But yes, simplicity is great to bring a painting together. I learned that from a painting class this past spring. It was a life art painting from inside my classroom to the outside. I hated drawing buildings. But I did a first painting that looks like everything was on vibrate, tossed it, and did a whole new painting that was much more simplistic. -- They are coming to get you Zane!! All of them! There is a way to get most of the white back when you paint with watercolor provided that you work REALLY quickly. When you make a boo-boo or don't like something, make it too dark, etc, firmly blot it with a paper towel while it's still pretty wet. Most of the paint will lift! It works with moist paper too, but not as well.
But yeah, simplicity is a weakness of mine. I tend to attack everything with paint without thinking about composition or coloring planning. lol! -- Commissions ---> [link] Sketchblog ---> [link] That happens. I mean I am on my way to 2nd year of college and is itching to learn more about painting. In animation, painting is a huge deal, I bet you know this already seeing that you are too in college XD; lol.
Thats an issue with me. I am too picky and takes a long time to mix the correct hue of an object. Especially getting the sunlight or the shade hitting it right. I just learned how to work well with Acryllics. -- They are coming to get you Zane!! All of them! The Indigo Flamingos are coming to get you and take you away to a place you never imagined! First of all, I really like how you applied the watercolors, especially the greens. Each is layered to give a soft feel as well as a particular sort of depth. The river is lovely, and the foliage overall turned out simply yet very picturesque. You put really good use of space as well for the trees, as if to look at a little humble park in a foggy morning.
Of all the things in this picture, the part of it that turned out the best is the bridge. You seem to not feel obligated to draw/paint out every single rock in its structure, yet the simplicity applied really brought forth its texture. The plants growing around it is a very nice touch, giving it a very natural feel.
The boy himself is very cute
All in all, however, everything here is so beautifully painted and put together. The placement of everything gives a relaxing feel, and the textures add a rather serene atmosphere to this humble painting. Everything here is well done, and I applaud you. Great job, and keep up the good work!
